Continuing the recent retro trend is the new Pentax MX-1, a digital compact that is a seriously handsome contender in the current beauty contest. Nostalgic film-like styling makes this camera a pleasure to see while handling is also superb, with a hefty solid feel due to extra weight and size compared to others.
The technology inside the MX-1 is top notch too – from the lovely, bright 3-inch, tilt-able high def screen, to the in-body RAW development, dual shake-reduction system, full HD movie recording, and all the usual bells and whistles. It does lack some of the controls we’re used to seeing on DSLRs but it’s nonetheless the perfect pocket companion for street photography and travel.
At £400, the Pentax MX-1 is hard to resist.
